At HyperYield ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Sahil Pradhan T/A HyperYield, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the HyperYield desktop application (the "Software").

Our privacy philosophy is simple: We don't want your data. HyperYield is designed as a "local-first" tool, meaning your notes and flashcards stay on your device unless you choose to send them to an AI provider for processing.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your Study Materials: We do not store, upload, or have access to your lecture notes, PDFs, or flashcards on our servers.
• Your AI API Keys: If you provide your own OpenRouter API key, it is stored locally on your device. We never transmit it to our servers.
• Medical Information: We do not collect any personal health information (PHI). We strongly advise against including patient-identifiable data in your study materials.

2. Information We Collect

A. Licensing and Activation

When you purchase a license or activate a trial, we (or our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy) may collect:

• Email Address: Used for sending license keys and updates.
• License Status: We may periodically verify your license key and device hardware ID (a hashed, non-identifiable string) to prevent unauthorized sharing.
• Payment Data: Handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We never see or store your credit card details.
• License and payment records are retained as long as your account is active, or as required by tax law

3. Third-Party Data Processing

A. AI Model Providers (e.g., OpenRouter)

When you generate flashcards, your selected notes are sent directly from your device to your chosen AI provider (such as OpenRouter).

• This processing is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
• We recommend reviewing the privacy settings of your AI provider to understand their data retention policies.

B. Payment Processor (Lemon Squeezy)

All financial transactions are processed by Lemon Squeezy. They act as the "Merchant of Record" and have their own privacy policy regarding your billing information.

4. Data Security

Even though we store very little data, we take security seriously:

• License verification uses encrypted HTTPS connections.
• Local data (like your API key) is stored using standard operating system secure storage where available.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location (e.g., Australia, EU, California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information (primarily your email and license record). Since we don't store your study data, we cannot "delete" it—you control it locally on your device.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes via the Software or our website.
